Persbråten videregående skole is a public upper secondary school located in the Vestre Aker district of Oslo, Norway. Established in 1959, the school was originally built as a “pavilion school” using prefabricated wooden structures from Moelven Brug to meet the urgent need for more classroom space in the post-war era. While these buildings were intended to be temporary, they remained in use for nearly 50 years until they were replaced by a modern school complex in 2007. The current campus, designed by the architectural firm Link Signatur, features open learning environments and specialized facilities, including a prominent sports hall that serves both the school and the local community, particularly for basketball.
Historically an academic institution focusing on general studies, Persbråten expanded its curriculum in the early 2000s to include a specialized department for students with disabilities and a comprehensive sports program. Today, the school is well-known for its “Top Sports” (toppidrett) program, which allows elite student-athletes to balance rigorous training with their education. Persbråten also has a long-standing cultural tradition through its annual school revue, the “Persrevyen,” which has been a fixture since the 1960s and has seen several famous Norwegian comedians and actors as instructors or participants. Over the decades, the school has educated a number of prominent figures in Norwegian public life, including politicians, journalists, and professional athletes.
