Skaugumsåsen is a prominent hill located in Asker municipality, Norway, rising to a height of approximately 350 meters above sea level. It is a popular destination for hikers, offering several marked trails from areas such as Hvalstad, Stokker farm, and Lake Semsvannet, with the summit providing panoramic views over the Oslofjord and the royal estate of Skaugum. The area is geologically significant for its ancient rock formations, including rhomb porphyry from the Permian period and older sedimentary rocks from the Cambro-Silurian era. To protect its unique biodiversity, the hill is home to two nature reserves, Skaugumsåsen and Åstad nature reserve as well as Nordre Skaugumsåsen nature reserve, which preserve rare deciduous forests, species-rich spruce forests, and various types of wetland ecosystems.
