The Royal Palace in Oslo is the official residence of the Norwegian monarch. Located at the end of Karl Johans gate, the palace overlooks the city center and is surrounded by the Palace Park. Construction began in 1825 and was completed in 1849, during the reign of King Oscar I. The palace is used for official functions and houses the offices of the King and the Royal Court.
