Oslo Prison

Oslo Prison is the district prison of Oslo and is the largest correctional facility in Norway, with a capacity of approximately 350 detainees. The prison is divided into several distinct departments with significant historical backgrounds. Department A, commonly known as "Botsen," is the former Botsfengselet located at Grønlandsleiret; it is famous for its panopticon architecture and its prominent appearance in the Olsenbanden films. Department B, popularly called "Bayer'n," is housed in a former brewery building in Åkebergveien. Additionally, Department C, known as "Stifinner'n," is situated in the former prison hospital and is specifically designated for inmates with drug-related challenges. The prison serves as a central institution in the Norwegian correctional system, primarily holding individuals in custody or serving shorter sentences.
