Mjærskaugtårnet is a prominent lookout tower situated atop Mjærskaugkollen in Enebakk, standing at an elevation of 300 meters above sea level. The current 12-meter wooden structure was officially inaugurated in June 2023, replacing an older, weathered tower to provide a safer and more modern platform for the local community. This site holds a special place in regional history, having served as a strategic point for the Norwegian resistance during World War II, and today it remains a testament to local "dugnad" spirit, as it was realized primarily through volunteer work and local sponsorships. The hike to the summit is a rewarding experience, typically involving a 2.5-kilometer trek from the parking area at Durud that is manageable for most families and casual hikers. The well-marked trail winds through scenic woodland before opening up to a breathtaking 360-degree panorama; on a clear day, you can spot the Oslofjord, the Holmenkollen ski jump, and even the distant peak of Gaustatoppen. With picnic benches at the base and a sturdy staircase leading to the top, it serves as a perfect year-round destination for those looking to soak in the natural beauty of the Follo region without needing professional climbing gear.
