Løvenskioldbanen, also known as Løvenskiold Shooting Range, is the largest civilian facility for shooting sports in Norway. Located in Bærum, Akershus, the construction of the site began in 1951, and it officially opened for operation in 1952. Owned by the Norwegian Shooting Association, the expansive facility serves as a daily hub for a wide variety of sports shooters and hunters representing numerous clubs and associations, including the Academic Shooting Club, Bærum Shooting Club, and the Oslo Pistol Club. In addition to its civilian use, Løvenskioldbanen plays a crucial role for law enforcement and the military, serving as the main training ground for both rifles and pistols for the Oslo Police District and His Majesty The King's Guard. The facility is heavily equipped for various disciplines, featuring electronic and paper targets for rifles at 100 and 200 meters, running moose and deer targets, a 25-meter pistol range, and multiple clay pigeon setups like skeet, trap, and sporting. Historically, Løvenskioldbanen holds a special place in Norwegian sports history, as it was the venue for the very first Norwegian Biathlon Championship in 1959, which was won by Henry Hermansen.
