The Kon-Tiki Museum in Oslo showcases the world-famous expeditions of Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl. Its centerpiece is the original Kon-Tiki raft, which Heyerdahl and his crew used in 1947 to sail from Peru to Polynesia, proving that ancient peoples could have made long sea voyages using traditional methods. The museum also features the Ra II papyrus boat, built in Egypt and sailed across the Atlantic, as well as exhibitions on Easter Island and other archaeological studies. Visitors gain insight into Heyerdahl’s adventurous spirit, his scientific curiosity, and his message about cultural connections across the oceans.
