Heidelberg Materials Sement

Heidelberg Materials Sement Norge AS (formerly Norcem AS) is Norway’s only cement producer, operating plants in Brevik and Kjøpsvik. Most of the cement it manufactures is sold in the domestic Norwegian market, with a smaller portion exported mainly to Denmark and Iceland. Cement — the key ingredient in concrete — is transported primarily by ship to coastal silos before distribution to local concrete producers, contractors, and other customers. Production uses limestone as the main raw material, increasingly supplemented with alternative inputs to reduce limestone extraction, and the company has long used alternative fuels to lower energy-related emissions.
