The original tower was built in 1910 by Ljansbruket to monitor the surrounding forests for fires. Strategically positioned, it offered a panoramic view over Sørmarka and the Oslofjord, enabling early detection of forest fires. In 2019, a new 17-meter-high observation tower was erected at the site, funded by the local community and supported by Oppegård Municipality. Today, the tower is a popular destination for hikers, providing stunning views and a glimpse into the area's historical fire surveillance.
